The following scenarios may sometimes occur as you learn more about
how to use and maintain your fragrance lamp. Use the solutions as a
guide on how to resolve most of the common issues. The wick stone won’t
light on the first attempt
Solutions
The fragrance oil may not have absorbed sufficiently into the
wick stone. Replace the solid snuffer cap for another 20 minutes then
try again. The
wick stone won’t light on the second and
subsequent attempt
Solutions
Excess Oil. If the Lamp was left exposed to the air without the solid
snuffer cap on, it could build up fragrance lamp oil in the stone. To
soak up or absorb the fragrance oil, you will need to heat the stone
so that it absorbs all the excess oil. This may take several minutes
so try using a kitchen cooktop or barbeque gas starter instead of the lamp lights. You will see the excess
oil actually bubbling on the surface of the stone. Once all the excess
oil is burned off it should light. Moisture in the wick stone
The wick stone may
have absorbed moisture from the air. Remove the wick stone and place
it on some paper towel. Let it completely dry out for about 24 hours
in a warm dry place. Try again. If it still doesn’t light, clean
the wick by placing it in the Sejour wick bath, cover with Wick Rejuvenator,
seal the container and let it soak for 48 hours. At the end of 48 hours,
fill the bottle 2/3 full with Wick Rejuvenator, replace the wick burner
assembly and perform a fragrance free wick burn, following the normal
operating procedures. (Refer to Maintenance for more details). The wick stone may be worn out. Over time the
catalytic metals in the wick get used up or coated with deposits and
the wick stone is finished. Solutions
Replace the wick.
